A Mixed Post / Highly Anticipated Films of 2014

I am so sorry for the lack of posts this week but I have been frantically doing homework, training and (on top of it all) trying to organise a Subway day at school which is going to involve a lot of work since the office does not want any part in it (they are overworked as it is). As a result of these lack of posts, I have decided to turn this post into the post that should have come out yesterday. This is mainly because it is one of my favourite segments as I love watching all the new trailers and seeing what films are coming out this year. Anyway, on with the movies!

Neighbours

Neighbours is lead by a star-studded cast including Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne and Dave Franco. It  is a comedy that tells the story of a young couple (Rogen and Byrne) suffering from arrested development who are forced to live next to a fraternity house after the birth of their newborn baby.

A Million Ways to Die in the West

A Million Ways to Die in the West has a star-studded cast including Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Seth MacFarlane, Liam Neeson and Neil Patrick Harris. It tells the story of a cowardly sheep farmer (MacFarlane) who chickens out of a gunfight and sees his girlfriend (Seyfried) leave him for another man. When a mysterious woman (Theron) rides into town, she helps him find his courage. But when her outlaw husband (Neeson) arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.

Devil's Knot

In 1993, West Memphis, Arkansas was rocked by the brutal murders of three 8-year old boys playing in the woods. The police quickly accused three teenage boys, claiming they killed the children as part of a satanic ritual. Professional investigator, Ron Lax (Colin Firth), volunteered to represent the accused and was shocked to find that the case was based entirely on circumstantial evidence, prejudiced assumptions of the teenagers' love of goth culture and heavy metal music. He watched in horror as his clients were put on death row as he discovered something far more crazy... the truth.

Belle

Belle is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral. Raised by her aristocrat great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson), Belle's lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the colour of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing. Left to wonder if she will ever find love, Belle falls for an idealistic young vicar's son bent on change who, with her help, shapes Lord Mansfield's role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.

The Boxtrolls

A comedic fable, filmed in stop-motion animation, that unfolds in Cheesebridge, a posh Victorian-era town obsessed with wealth, class, and the stinkiest of fine cheeses. Beneath its charming cobblestone streets dwell the Boxtrolls, foul monsters who crawl out of the sewers at night and steal what the townspeople hold most dear: their children and their cheeses. At least, that's the legend residents have always believed. In truth, the Boxtrolls are an undergound cavern-dwelling community of quirky and lovable oddballs who wear recycled cardboard boxes the way turtles wear their shells. The Boxtrolls have raised an orphaned human boy, Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead-Wright), since infancy as one of their dumpster-diving and mechanical junk-collecting own. When the Boxtrolls are targeted by villainous pest exterminator Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley), who is bent on eradicating them as his ticket to Cheesebridge society, the kind-hearted band of tinkers must turn to their adopted charge and adventurous rich girl Winnie (Elle Fanning) to bridge two worlds amidst the winds of change - and cheese.
