Google Problems

Those of you who have been reading my blog for some time now know that I like to complain. You would also know that I like to use Google sites like YouTube and Google Plus (yeah, I like it. Get over it). Considering the fact that I like both of these there are bound to be some complaints I have about Google. Well, here they are. I have been meaning to write a post like this for some time. I even started writing them into some of my Random Thought Friday posts before I realised that I had enough to write a whole post about them. So here we go, my Google problems:

Google Captions. Do I need to say any more? For those of you who do not know, Google captions is a feature on YouTube that basically places subtitles on videos. However, about 97% of the time, these captions are wrong. It can actually make a boring video really funny. Go on, try out my theory with one of my videos. However entertaining they are however, they are also very annoying when you want to watch something with this feature enabled as you do not have headphones and do not want to use your speakers. It is incredibly annoying how this happens so Google, just stop with the bloody captions. They just make things worse. Plus, death people probably believe everything they say. Anyway, I might actually do a post like that one day where I transcribe what the video is actually saying and then write down what Google captions thinks is going on. Over the past few months Google has been trying to integrate all their sites into using just one account. This way you do not need separate accounts for Google Drives, YouTube and Google Plus. The annoying thing here is whenever the message pops up on my YouTube telling me to change (how dare you ask me to change) and I have to click out of it because every other option sucks. If I choose to use my Google Plus account people will find out my full name and that is just not cyber safe. However, if I choose to have two separate accounts linked to the same one each time I log onto my YouTube through my phone I have to select whether to use it as Legolukey or Luke. On my Dad's iPad however I simply can not use my YouTube because it is such an old iPad that YouTube has basically given up updating their app for that format. Apple does not even let them update to iOS7. Thought that may not be such a bad thing. The point is that now I just have to get out of the box as quickly as I can and it is really annoying.

I do have many more Google problems so there may be a part two in the distant future. Do not wait around for one though because I have a horrible memory. See you tomorrow!

Daily Lukey: The Journey to 200 (Part 4)

Welcome to part 4 of the series where I take a look back through the 199 posts that lead up to the 200th post. This is all to celebrate my 200th Post last Friday and this series will run until this Friday with a break tomorrow for variety. We begin July with a post celebrating the fact that I had my braces removed! It was such a great day and it really made a great start to the school holidays. I then wrote a post about television shows that people watch because it is there rather than for any enjoyment/educational purpose before I celebrated my 100th post. I took a look through the many features of this blog and advertised that I was adding all the photos for each month that appeared on the blog (and a few that did not make the cut) to celebrate. Each month a new month of pictures is posted. This month's one will be pictures from May 2013 and can be checked out by following the Facebook page link to the right under pages. I then wrote a post about holiday homework before I wrote another on the magical creation of movies. Magical, I have said that word too many times today to be normal. I then wrote a post about boredom (while I was bored might I add) and followed that with a post about the top five most successful YouTubers (I was bored on this night as well). I then discussed the ever-changing and always surprising adventures of walking Sandy (he did begin to appear a lot in this blog) followed by a post on Facebook Games and how, over the holidays, I become addicted to them (no judge). I finished the following day with a post in response to all the reports of seniors 'mistaking' the accelerator for the brake and proposed that perhaps it was some sort of "senior rebellion".

I then wrote a post about Twitter which was, ironically, followed by a post about the annoying things in our lives. I then celebrated a productive day by writing a post about it before again writing another post the next day on Annoying things People do on Facebook because, apparently, I had not complained enough two days before. Then school returned and I wrote a post about that before the wonder wore off and I returned to late-night posts written on my phone. The blogger app by the way is not that good. It is alright but pictures can not be resized or repositioned which is very annoying (I must have been having a very annoying month in July). I then complained about how some people seem to have so much money to spend before I wrote the next post on selfish people. Yeah, I wrote a post about selfish people on a blog where all I do is discuss things that have to do with me, what of it? I then discussed what the world would be like if idioms were real following a video I had watched on YouTube following the same sort of theme but with similes and metaphors. I then complained about some spooky driving I did where I believed I was in Slender Man (seriously, it was a bad night to be wearing a suit). I then wrote a post to reaffirm my love for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, it was going to come sooner or later. Here I discussed film-related things including the two trailers. Also, the new tv spot for Catching Fire came out today which includes all new footage and is set to Coldplay's Atlas which was written for Catching Fire (because it is just that awesome). I then wrote a post expressing my annoyance at the amount of acronyms in the world based on the amount of acronyms there were in the CFA (even the name is an acronym). I delved into the mind of Sandy and his logic the following day before answering some more random questions when I could not think of anything else to write about. The following two days were late posts and this was followed by a post on weird advertisements. I then wrote a post on some of the stupid things that have been said in court (which I found online thanks to Facebook). I then complained about study distractions,  neglecting to mention that a daily blog is a major one, before complaining about people who always told you way too much. July was ended with my review of The Way Way Back which I won tickets to thanks to Mix 101.1.

Thank you for supporting me and check back on Thursday for August with September and the start of October coming on Friday. See you tomorrow!

YouTube Subscriptions Part 5

Only five parts into this and already my Subscriptions are getting clearer! So much easier to watch the videos I want without all the unwanted channels clogging up my feed. I feel so much more organised with it like this and it saves me so much time. Plus when I really want to watch an old video I can easily find the channel rather than having to sift through 150 others. You guys should really try it out, let's begin! I began with 153 subscriptions and am already back to 95 subscriptions, hooray!

Miss Glamorazzi is the first YouTuber under the pump. She is a beauty guru who I subscribed to because I watched her vlogs. I never watch any of these videos though so it is goodbye to her. Missy Higgins is another one of those Music channels, this one is for Missy Higgins. Like the other music channels I am unsubscribing. Mockingjaynet is a channel that is all about The Hunger Games and related videos. I am unsubscribing because I never watch any of their videos so goodbye. I know how shocking that must seem since I am such of a Hunger Games fan but this one just has to go. Mr Sacred Ashes is a friend who I subscribed to but am unsubscribing from because they clog up my news feed. Wow, that makes me sound like a horrible person. Mychonny is a popular comedic YouTuber who I remain subscribed to because he is genuinely funny. Nerdist is a channel on YouTube that features many celebrities and has comedic videos. I am unsubscribing as I only subscribed for a mini web series they used to have which featured Neil Patrick Harris (it was called "Neil's Puppet Dreams"). NigaHiga is one of the popular comedic YouTubers who I enjoy watching because he is genuinely hilarious. I have used genuinely too much when it comes to comedy recently, I really have to stop. However, I will not stop my subscription to NigaHiga. Nightly News at Nine is a channel featuring a Lego Stop-Animation Web Series. It is funny and made out of Lego, of course I am maintaining my subscription!

Obtbone08 is a channel I have no idea how I subscribed to, I guess it's a goodbye to them too. Official Psy is of course the official Music Channel of Psy, the K-Pop sensation behind Gangnam Style. As it is one of those Music Channels I am unsubscribing. Official WICKED is the official Channel of the musical Wicked. I am subscribed to it as it includes behind-the-scenes videos and extras as well as other Wicked-Related videos. I am definitely remaining subscribed. Optic Movies is yet another of the channels I can not remember subscribing to so it is goodbye to whatever they are. Other iJustine is the Vlog channel of iJustine that I am remaining subscribed to because I like watching Vlogs. Pano T is an 18 Year-old YouTuber who just graduated from High School that makes videos on his thoughts on things as well as some other comedic videos. I like watching him because he has interesting views and opinions and a funny way of explaining them. PewDiePie is a popular YouTuber I subscribed to because I thought he was good but I never watched any of his videos that I actually enjoyed so goodbye. Pistol Shrimps make comedic shorts and web series which I really enjoy but I have not watched any of their recent videos and they say if you do not wear something for a long time you are most likely not going to wear it again, why can't the same be said for YouTube channels? Goodbye Pistol Shrimps. Also, just because I unsubscribe from a channel does not mean it is not good. The reason I link the channel is so that if it seems like it would appeal to you it can be checked out. Pointless Blog is a British YouTuber I do not actually watch anymore so it is a goodbye to him, even though he is good. Pointless Blog TV is the Vlog channel of this British YouTuber, I do not watch these vlogs though so goodbye to him also.

Pokemon is the YouTube channel of Pokemon but I never actually watch any of their videos and if I do want to watch them then I just search for it. Goodbye Pokemon, you could not catch me. Potter Puppet Pals is the official YouTube channel of the Potter Puppet Pals and I am not unsubscribing because I do genuinely enjoy their videos. They are pretty funny. PRJSCHS is the YouTube channel of one of the English Teachers at school who made videos related to the course work that helped me study for exams, however I no longer watch his videos and am unsubscribing for now. I may subscribe again if I need to. Rayeboi is another friend who actually makes good Minecraft and other gaming videos on YouTube. I am simply unsubscribing because I think he said he was stopping making videos so at least this time I do not sound so heartless. Reckless Tortuga is a channel that makes comedic sketches which can be funny. I have not watched any of their videos recently so it is a goodbye to them as well. Wow, I have just realised that I have not kept many of my subscriptions in this part. It just shows how many of the channels I subscribe to I do not use anymore. Roller Coaster Dude 96 makes Roller Coaster Tycoon videos on YouTube which I used to like but he has not uploaded a video in a long time so he is losing me as a subscriber. Rowan Atkinson is a YouTube channel that is filled with videos of numerous Rowan Atkinson comedy sketches. I am remaining subscribed because, in true Rowan Atkinson form, it is hilarious. Sawyer Hartman is a YouTuber who makes short films and puts them on YouTube. The short films are really good but I just do not have the time to watch them all the time so he is yet another user I am leaving behind. Sawyer Hartman 2 is his Vlog channel which I am also unsubscribing from. At the end of Part 5 I am down to 76 subscriptions, which is a lot since I was at 95 at the start.

YouTube Subscriptions Part 2

So in a continuation of Part 1 I am going to keep going through my Subscriptions on YouTube and unsubscribe from those I do not watch. I am doing this because I have way too many subscriptions that clog up my YouTube and keep me from seeing the videos I want to see. A new part comes out every second day so you guys do not get bored of the same thing every day. I started off at the beginning of Part 1 with 153 subscriptions and by the end of Part 1 had already cut down to 143 subscriptions which is where I am starting from now.

Captain Sparklez is a user who makes Minecraft videos. This ranges from actual game-play, to map building, to mini-games and also animated music videos. The music videos are great but since they are the only reason I subscribe I am going to unsubscribe. Chonny Day is one of My Chonny's (comedian) other channels but the videos on here are very entertaining so I am going to maintain my subscription. Collab Down Under was a collaboration channel on YouTube where some Australian Teenage YouTubers made Videos. It has since stopped as will my subscription. Cyanide and Happiness is a channel I originally thought as the makers of the Cyanide and Happiness animations but found out shortly after it was not. I just did not unsubscribe but I will now. Daniel Timms is another Australian YouTuber I came across on YouTube but I stopped watching his videos so it is a goodbye from me too. Dayviideo is the brother of one of the YouTubers I watch a lot and I began to like his videos so I am also remaining subscribed to him as he just makes vlogs and other videos about past experiences and his thoughts.

Death By Illusion is a user that posts videos of Point of Views on Rides such as Roller Coasters at various theme parks in America. I will unsubscribe from him because I have stopped watching his videos. Delta Goodrem VEVO is another Music Video channel I will unsubscribe to. Depcat is a channel who uploaded random videos and I have no idea why I subscribed to him, funny how that happens a lot to me. Disney History is a channel that has lots of videos on the History of Disney Parks and Disney itself. I really enjoyed it and found it interesting but have not watched one of their videos in a while so am unsubscribing for that reason. Disney Movie Trailers is a self-explanatory channel which I am unsubscribing from simply because I do not want all their uploads clogging my feed. Disney Parks is a channel I am remaining subscribed to as it has interesting behind-the-scenes looks at Disney Parks Attractions as well as some past and upcoming attractions. DumbWays2Die is the channel for the Dumb Ways to Die campaign I made the post about a few weeks ago. I am unsubscribing because it has been a long time since the last upload.

Eeeverythingyouneed (no error) is another one of those channels that I have no idea as to why I subscribed to them, goodbye. Ellen Fun House is a fan-made channel of some old clips from The Ellen Show featuring Ellen Degeneres, I am unsubscribing as I am already subscribed to the official Ellen Show Channel (see below). Eric Cartman is another channel I subscribed to while watching South Park clips on YouTube. I am unsubscribing however because I never watch their videos anymore. Evil Iguana Productions is a channel that makes short comedic videos but I no longer watch their videos and am unsubscribing. Explosm Entertainment is the channel behind Cyanide and Happiness and I subscribed for this reason. Since there has been no recent uploads I am unsubscribing. Fact of the Day is a collaboration channel between some of my favourite YouTubers that produces short (around 30 seconds to a minute) videos on a fact every day. Each day is a different YouTuber and Category but I am unsubscribing because I do not watch their videos anymore as I do not have the time since I watch all their other videos. That is it for today, I started with 143 subscriptions and am already back to 127 subscriptions! Be sure to check back in 2 days for Part 3!

YouTube

YouTube, the video sharing site, has become a normal part of my day-to-day life. It's become as normal to go on YouTube a few times a day as it is to writing this Blog (Hooray for the 73rd post by the way). YouTube has over 4 million channels, with other 72 hours of video being uploaded every minute! It's no wonder it has become a part of my everyday life. Sometimes I think I go on YouTube a little too much but then I think I'm crazy because you can never have too much of something, right? Right?!

YouTube has become a place of many vibrant communities. You have the Beauty Gurus who somehow come up with some amazing video ideas each week. Then there are the Comedians (I mean, who can't laugh at at least one of Barely Political's videos) who make us laugh every week through song, movie or just pure spontaneity. The Vloggers are also a growing community to be reckoned with. There are so many Vloggers (Video Bloggers) on YouTube today and I must say that it is fascinating to watch someone go about their everyday lives. I wish life was like this (and in 3D [just kidding]). Also the Gamers always manage to find an ordinary game and turn it into the funniest ten minutes of your day. I have seen a YouTuber turn Sims and Minecraft into something absolutely hilarious, it really is amazing. Then there are also the smaller, but not to be underestimated, communities of Short Film, News, Gossip and much more which just add yet another few layers onto an already vibrant community. It is no wonder YouTube has become such a big part of my life because it has so many new videos and topics everyday, it is very hard to get bored.

May the odds be ever in your favour, see you tomorrow!

Privacy

Whatever happened to privacy? It is a seemingly lost right in our society. The online world makes it nearly impossible to have any privacy. Then there are the people who seem to have just given up on trying to maintain privacy and have just left their lives bare for everyone to see. Likewise there are people who go out of their way to invade someone else's piracy. It seems our world is full of these people so where does the future of privacy actually lead?

The online world makes privacy a near-impossible thing in today's society. Social Media sites like Facebook and Twitter allow us to put our lives online for everyone to see. The worst part is we do not even have a qualm about what we are doing until it is too late and you wish you never posted or tweeted something. We are so worried about our privacy yet when it comes to Facebook and Twitter people just lose caution and post what they think, without thinking. Then there are the sites like YouTube where 'Vloggers' [video bloggers] and other YouTubers put their thoughts and their lives in video. The worse part is that their viewers  still demand more from them. If you go through a video on YouTube about a 'vlogger' there are always heaps of comments from people asking very personal questions, or making horrible judgements. The worst part is that these are the people who, in other videos, get all touchy when other people do the same thing. No matter how much of our life we want
to control there are always those around us who want to control so much more.

Then there are also those around us, like celebrities, who live their lives in the public eye. I am not talking about all celebrities, only the ones who go as far as to tell people their every move. These are the celebrities who tweet everything, even the things we do not even want to know. Just recently, there was a celebrity wedding, I will not mention who, who sold out all photography rights to a magazine for $350,000 which is obviously a lot. That would pay for a normal wedding as well as the honeymoon and a deposit on a house. It is insane that out privacy has become a commodity to be sold yet is not uncommon. I really hope our lives do not become revolved around a lack of privacy. I pity the people having to live in such a world.

May the odds be ever in your favour, see you tomorrow.
