In today's world, first impressions are everything. This is true for a wide manner of things including (but not limited to) people, places, people, games, shows, and did I mention people? We do not realise how big a role first impressions play on us until we look back and think about why we did or did not like or do something. We then realise that our decisions and our interests have been based on the impressions we made when we first encountered whatever we are reacting to (can you believe I almost typed stimuli?). Our emotions play as big a role, if not bigger, in our lives then logical thought processes.
If you will excuse the language in the comic above and the dark undertones it does show us how first impressions... Just kidding, I only chose it because it looked funny. It only really has minimal links to first impressions but it was enough for me! I am sure I have discussed first impressions with people a variety of times throughout a range of posts so instead I am going to focus on other first impressions. For example, a television show. The first episode you are ever going to watch of a show will determine whether you will want to watch another or just move on. Your first episode of a really good television show is not one you easily forget as it was your first insight into a new world you have grown to love. Your emotions at the time of watching that first episode also determines how likely you are going to pursue that show in the future. If you are in a foul mood you are most likely not going to have very positive experiences with the show you are watching. Conversely, if you are feeling great you are more likely to be more receptive to enjoy what you are going to watch. As the old adage goes (which comes in many different wordings), you can only get out of something what you put in. If you go into a show with a bad mood and not thinking you will enjoy it then you are not going to enjoy it as that is what you expect. Only in rare cases will this not be the case and this can be for a variety of reasons including those around you, the quality of what you are doing and the level of your receptiveness. So you can see that this can be applied to a wide range of things from television shows to camps or recreation days. First Impressions are everything and if that first impression is not good, neither will the rest of your time.
First impressions are very important, see you tomorrow!

Lost
When I say lost I am not discussing the 'popular' television show and instead I am talking about the adjective used to describe an action. This action is often embarrassing and generally annoying. If you have ever lost something, which I am sure you have, then you will know what I mean. It can be very annoying to not have something that you spend ages trying to find. There is so much in our world that we can lose and these can range from our belongings to other things like feelings and other items. No matter what it is that we lose we generally feel something for it. I know in the numerous (and I mean numerous) times that I have lost things that I have always felt really worried, even if it is for a short time. However, nothing can compare (well at the time at least) to the feeling of relief you experience when you find the item you lost. It's magic.
Losing something can turn your good day into something of a nightmare. It can turn the brightest day dull and... Yeah, I am going to stop as I am going off on a crappy metaphorical rampage here. Basically losing something sucks. It sucks so much that you just want to disappear into nothing. I have lost my phone on numerous occasions. Granted these were generally for short periods of time but even for those short periods of time I felt a worry so deep that it manifested into some physical pit in my stomach threatening to... yeah, I really need to stop doing that because it happens too much. Back on the topic, while I search like hell for this I become very religious. At no other point in time am I as religious as when I have lost something. I pray and pray and pray to saint Anthony that I will find what it is I am looking for. Why do I pray to saint Anthony? Well that is because if you lose something you pray to Saint Anthony and you eventually find it. It has worked sometimes for me but I swear he must get so sick of me. Plus, the only time I really get heavily religious is when I lose something so in that respect it is a positive. Anyway, I have to go now because I keep losing track of where I am at.
Don't lose yourself in this blog though I give you permission to do so, see you tomorrow!

Music
Music is one of the greatest things we have to offer. Each civilisation throughout history has had some form of music and it has entranced people for centuries. There is some special quality of music that can hook people in and allow them to have an emotional attachment to a sound. Music is so diverse and each person has their own taste of it. Some people like pop music while others like rock. Some like classical while others like hip hop. Music can make us feel things, or make us think of things. Music is also used to inspire. Music is all around us, we just have to look for it, or rather listen.
Music can be used to create emotion and make people think of things. Music can draw out sides of us we may have thought lost forever. A good piece of music can stick with us forever. Whenever we hear it we instantly think of something we relate the song to. Music may make us think of movies such as the soundtrack of Jaws, Psycho or even James Bond. Music may even make us think of times in our lives. Every person will have their own thing they relate music to. Some people could relate a song to something joyful like their wedding while others may relate the same song to something such as a funeral or a break up of a relationship. Songs can mean different things to different people but one thing is common: music has meaning for everyone.
Music can also be used to inspire people. There are great examples of people using music to inspire change in people. Beyonce's "I Was Here" is a song calling people to action and to make people think about what they have done that people will remember them for. Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" is a song that challenges the prejudices people have against each other. It calls people to think about what is so different about us. It is great music like this which makes people think about the reasons behind their actions and what motivates them to do something. Music is great in this sense and can really create a change in the way people think.
Music can do many things and it for each person it does something different. Music can make us think of something such as an event or it can inspire us to change our perspectives. Music is a very powerful thing and is not to be underestimated.
May the odds be ever in your favour, see you tomorrow.
