Decisions, Decisions

You know how annoying it can be to make major decisions in a rush? Decisions like where to go, who to see and where to see Catching Fire are just impossible to make on limited time. The worst part is you can not stay silent and think about it first because then people just stare at each other in an awkward silence. Then this awkwardness just grows to an extent that by the time you have a decision it is too awkward to say anything and so the rest of the time is spent in silence. To avoid this you have to use filler words like "um", "er" or "uh" and after a while of doing this you just seem like a brain-dead idiot. It is just so hard to make decisions on the spot guys, do not put me under such pressure!

So think before you ask me these major decisions. How am I supposed to remember what my favourite movie is so that I can answer immediately after you ask? It just makes me look like an idiot when I go "Hunger Games... no! Catching Fire.... no! Hunger Games" and it gets worse once people realise that Catching Fire has not being released yet and they realise I am presuming this. When you ask me where I want to go do not expect a straight answer. Of the trillions of locations within our world how am I supposed to know where I want to go at that exact moment. Unless I need to go to the toilet really badly I will have no idea. Even then, when someone asks where you want to go "Toilet" is in no way a valid answer. It just leads to an awkward silence and a hasty change of subject. How should I know what I want from the store? I have literally milliseconds to come up with something and then I say something stupid that I will never need like tampons or a life. I mean, come on guys. If you ask me hastily you are going to get a hasty response. Now questions like what do you want to be when you are older, what are you going to study in VCE, do you want to be resuscitated should the need arise are ones that do not require as much thought. Just remember that where I want to watch Catching Fire is going to be a major decision and turning point in my life so do not expect me to answer you immediately, I need time.

So next time you ask any of these important questions, do not expect a responsible answer. See you tomorrow!

Music

Music is one of the greatest things we have to offer. Each civilisation throughout history has had some form of music and it has entranced people for centuries. There is some special quality of music that can hook people in and allow them to have an emotional attachment to a sound. Music is so diverse and each person has their own taste of it. Some people like pop music while others like rock. Some like classical while others like hip hop. Music can make us feel things, or make us think of things. Music is also used to inspire. Music is all around us, we just have to look for it, or rather listen.

Music can be used to create emotion and make people think of things. Music can draw out sides of us we may have thought lost forever. A good piece of music can stick with us forever. Whenever we hear it we instantly think of something we relate the song to. Music may make us think of movies such as the soundtrack of Jaws, Psycho or even James Bond. Music may even make us think of times in our lives. Every person will have their own thing they relate music to. Some people could relate a song to something joyful like their wedding while others may relate the same song to something such as a funeral or a break up of a relationship. Songs can mean different things to different people but one thing is common: music has meaning for everyone.

Music can also be used to inspire people. There are great examples of people using music to inspire change in people. Beyonce's "I Was Here" is a song calling people to action and to make people think about what they have done that people will remember them for. Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" is a song that challenges the prejudices people have against each other. It calls people to think about what is so different about us. It is great music like this which makes people think about the reasons behind their actions and what motivates them to do something. Music is great in this sense and can really create a change in the way people think.

Music can do many things and it for each person it does something different. Music can make us think of something such as an event or it can inspire us to change our perspectives. Music is a very powerful thing and is not to be underestimated.

May the odds be ever in your favour, see you tomorrow.

Friends and Family

So we all know how important friends and family are but I don't think we actually realise how important they are in many factors of our lives. They help us in many ways, and we need both friends and family because there are some things you would only confide in friends rather than family and vice versa. They create a stable support network that we need to be our best.

Our friends are important to us as they give us a respite from the monotonous life of home. They provide us with a connection to the outside world and an understanding of how others act and react. They are our life line to a world outside our own where people live different lives. They are also fun to muck around with and just enjoy life with. There are things you do with friends which you would not even think of doing with family. I mean, who talks about daily life with family? Who talks to their family about the latest gossip around school or even school work itself? There are also things you talk to friends about, like troubles you are having, that may not seem appropriate to discuss with family, such as feelings and crushes and other usual stuff going through a post-pubescent teenager. Even older people have friends to turn to with stories of relationships and friendships that are inappropriate to divulge to parents who may not see the funny side. Therefore friends are very important in the wellbeing of individuals.

Our friends are important to our wellbeing but so is family. Family is there for you when you need them and will support you in your endeavours and have been there for you since birth. They mould you into the adult you will become and, as I have said in a previous post, irresponsible parents lead to irresponsible children and the opposite can also be said. Responsible parents heighten the chance of them producing a responsible child as they have been brought up learning from example. They have also been taught about consequences and the results of their actions. They are also important to us as they are the ones who put up with all of our annoying habits and at the end of the day still love us. Plus they listen to our problems and help us resolve them. They are always there when we need them and though we don't like admitting it, we love them. Plus, our older siblings make mistakes before us so we know not to make them. SCORE for the younger siblings!

So in the end it is clear that Family and Friends is very important to us. Also, I want to apologise because I know it is technically the 12th of April (even though blogger will say it is still the 11th) but I started writing this on the 11th so there will be another post tonight for the 12th April.

May the odds be ever in your favour, see you tomorrow!
