A Random Time

Have you ever just had one of those really random weeks? Well, me neither but I hear they exist. Anyway, it feels like it has been so long since I have written one of these posts. That is probably because it has been a very long time since I have written one of these Random Thought Saturday posts but anyway, at least it is now happening. Now, I have been a little loose with posts so far this year which is mostly due to my school and Kokoda commitments. However, I am gradually getting better at keeping these from taking over my life. There are definitely going to be times next Term and even into the future where I will miss posts for a long period of time, there is no denying that. I am incredibly sorry whenever that does happen but I would rather write a post like this than put out some short paragraphs every day just apologising for having a short post. I would not want to read that and you most likely would not want to read that. Therefore I am not going to do that. I am very sorry whenever it does happen though which is something I reiterate every time it does happen because it needs to be said. I missed it, I am sorry. There is no getting around that but it is time to move on from it.

It is holidays right now which means time to catch up on homework, sleep, YouTube, friends and everything else. It also means that Kokoda is coming around the corner. However, I wrote the majority of yesterday's "The Week that Was" post about what has been going with Kokoda so I am not going to talk anymore about it. Plus, you are going to hear all about it in the posts I am scheduling to be released while I am away (which I am still in the process of writing, by process I mean finding the motivation to start). Anyway, the point I was trying to make at the start of this paragraph was that this Term has, for me, come around very quickly. It may have been because I was not very bored or that I had a lot going on but in any case, for me this Term seemed to be a very quick one. It was also a very important one for me as it was my first official full-VCE course load. I am loving it a lot more than previous years as I am doing the subjects that I chose to do which makes it more interesting than doing the same as everyone else and only doing some electives separate. Aside from this, Relay for Life was last weekend. I am not sure if I wrote a post about this but I think I did write one as I was preparing for it. Anyway, I was the team-captain in that I organised a team for my Kokoda group who went and it was a lot of fun. We raised nearly $2,000 which is a lot more than I expected and we had fun doing it. I can not wait to do it again next year and I even got some sleep this time which was great. You can try to do it without sleep, but after a few times you find a little sleep goes a long way in making you feel better. What was also great about last weekend is that Once Upon a Time started up again in Australia. Channel 7 left us hanging there for a while but now it is back and I cannot wait for the rest of Season 3. I even hear there is a Wicked Witch just around the corner. It is all so exciting, also Revenge started back up so I am watching that too but that was during the holidays so a while ago. I guess my plans for these holidays before I go away to Kokoda is to get all my homework done as soon as possible, keep this blog going and also catch up with friends, YouTube and a whole lot of sleep. I can not wait!

Bring on the holidays! See you tomorrow.

YouTube Subscriptions Part 5

Only five parts into this and already my Subscriptions are getting clearer! So much easier to watch the videos I want without all the unwanted channels clogging up my feed. I feel so much more organised with it like this and it saves me so much time. Plus when I really want to watch an old video I can easily find the channel rather than having to sift through 150 others. You guys should really try it out, let's begin! I began with 153 subscriptions and am already back to 95 subscriptions, hooray!

Miss Glamorazzi is the first YouTuber under the pump. She is a beauty guru who I subscribed to because I watched her vlogs. I never watch any of these videos though so it is goodbye to her. Missy Higgins is another one of those Music channels, this one is for Missy Higgins. Like the other music channels I am unsubscribing. Mockingjaynet is a channel that is all about The Hunger Games and related videos. I am unsubscribing because I never watch any of their videos so goodbye. I know how shocking that must seem since I am such of a Hunger Games fan but this one just has to go. Mr Sacred Ashes is a friend who I subscribed to but am unsubscribing from because they clog up my news feed. Wow, that makes me sound like a horrible person. Mychonny is a popular comedic YouTuber who I remain subscribed to because he is genuinely funny. Nerdist is a channel on YouTube that features many celebrities and has comedic videos. I am unsubscribing as I only subscribed for a mini web series they used to have which featured Neil Patrick Harris (it was called "Neil's Puppet Dreams"). NigaHiga is one of the popular comedic YouTubers who I enjoy watching because he is genuinely hilarious. I have used genuinely too much when it comes to comedy recently, I really have to stop. However, I will not stop my subscription to NigaHiga. Nightly News at Nine is a channel featuring a Lego Stop-Animation Web Series. It is funny and made out of Lego, of course I am maintaining my subscription!

Obtbone08 is a channel I have no idea how I subscribed to, I guess it's a goodbye to them too. Official Psy is of course the official Music Channel of Psy, the K-Pop sensation behind Gangnam Style. As it is one of those Music Channels I am unsubscribing. Official WICKED is the official Channel of the musical Wicked. I am subscribed to it as it includes behind-the-scenes videos and extras as well as other Wicked-Related videos. I am definitely remaining subscribed. Optic Movies is yet another of the channels I can not remember subscribing to so it is goodbye to whatever they are. Other iJustine is the Vlog channel of iJustine that I am remaining subscribed to because I like watching Vlogs. Pano T is an 18 Year-old YouTuber who just graduated from High School that makes videos on his thoughts on things as well as some other comedic videos. I like watching him because he has interesting views and opinions and a funny way of explaining them. PewDiePie is a popular YouTuber I subscribed to because I thought he was good but I never watched any of his videos that I actually enjoyed so goodbye. Pistol Shrimps make comedic shorts and web series which I really enjoy but I have not watched any of their recent videos and they say if you do not wear something for a long time you are most likely not going to wear it again, why can't the same be said for YouTube channels? Goodbye Pistol Shrimps. Also, just because I unsubscribe from a channel does not mean it is not good. The reason I link the channel is so that if it seems like it would appeal to you it can be checked out. Pointless Blog is a British YouTuber I do not actually watch anymore so it is a goodbye to him, even though he is good. Pointless Blog TV is the Vlog channel of this British YouTuber, I do not watch these vlogs though so goodbye to him also.

Pokemon is the YouTube channel of Pokemon but I never actually watch any of their videos and if I do want to watch them then I just search for it. Goodbye Pokemon, you could not catch me. Potter Puppet Pals is the official YouTube channel of the Potter Puppet Pals and I am not unsubscribing because I do genuinely enjoy their videos. They are pretty funny. PRJSCHS is the YouTube channel of one of the English Teachers at school who made videos related to the course work that helped me study for exams, however I no longer watch his videos and am unsubscribing for now. I may subscribe again if I need to. Rayeboi is another friend who actually makes good Minecraft and other gaming videos on YouTube. I am simply unsubscribing because I think he said he was stopping making videos so at least this time I do not sound so heartless. Reckless Tortuga is a channel that makes comedic sketches which can be funny. I have not watched any of their videos recently so it is a goodbye to them as well. Wow, I have just realised that I have not kept many of my subscriptions in this part. It just shows how many of the channels I subscribe to I do not use anymore. Roller Coaster Dude 96 makes Roller Coaster Tycoon videos on YouTube which I used to like but he has not uploaded a video in a long time so he is losing me as a subscriber. Rowan Atkinson is a YouTube channel that is filled with videos of numerous Rowan Atkinson comedy sketches. I am remaining subscribed because, in true Rowan Atkinson form, it is hilarious. Sawyer Hartman is a YouTuber who makes short films and puts them on YouTube. The short films are really good but I just do not have the time to watch them all the time so he is yet another user I am leaving behind. Sawyer Hartman 2 is his Vlog channel which I am also unsubscribing from. At the end of Part 5 I am down to 76 subscriptions, which is a lot since I was at 95 at the start.

Don't let too many subscriptions get you down, see you tomorrow!

Oz The Great and Powerful and "Kid" Movies

So today I went to see Oz The Great and Powerful, late I know. I went with my father as he had a day off today and everyone else was working. I just loved the story-line and although some people found it aimed at a younger generation, which it was to a certain extent, I loved it and was enthralled in the story behind Oz and the struggles of that great land. As this is based on the actual Oz series by Frank L. Baum (Yes, The Wizard of Oz isn't the only book in the series). It is a prequel to that book (and movie) and shows the power struggles for Oz and how the Wizard became, well, The Great Oz even though he doesn't have any magic like the Witches. It also shows how the Wicked Witch of the West came to be. Of course, it was not as good as Wicked but then nothing could really live up to that expectation in my eyes.

Oz The Great and Powerful is a successful mix of comedy, action and drama with no singing like in the 1939 MGM film, "The Wizard of Oz" and I am definitely buying that DVD when it comes out. It was fascinating to see the struggle for Oz between Evanora (Rachel Weisz),Theodora (Mila Kunis) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), the Witches of Oz, and how Oz (the magician [James Franco]) was stuck in a lie between them. What you think at the start of the movie is completely different to what you witness by the end and it really changes your view of Oz and the Wicked Witch of the West (not as much as Wicked but still, a valiant effort).

This movie shows that you can never be too old to enjoy a good fairy tale. This brings me on to my next point about movies that are aimed at the Younger Generation, or "Kids". I just have to say that I have enjoyed some animated films more than my younger cousins who are at the age where they like the movies but feel too old to admit they like the movie. For example, Wreck it Ralph was a genuinely funny and good movie that my grandmother and I both really enjoyed more than my younger cousins who were watching it with us. It shows that even though these movies are aimed at the younger generation it does not mean that teenagers and above can't enjoy them as well.

Coming out later this year is another kids movie I think is going to be really good and I want to see (probably with my younger cousins so it doesn't feel so weird) it because I just do, live with it. It is, of course, Monsters University, the sequel to the well-received Pixar Film, Monsters Inc. I don't care if I am above the intended age of the audience, I want to see it because I really enjoyed the first one. Also coming out further down the track is Finding Dory, a movie just announced a few days ago set to be released in 2015 (the year I graduate from High School, yay) which also happens to be the year Mockingjay Part 2 is set to be released, the final installment of the Hunger Games saga! I just want to see what happens next in "Finding Dory" which is apparently set in California a year after the events of "Finding Nemo" and is about Dory reconnecting with her family. Should be funny since Dory was such a funny character in "Finding Nemo" plus Ellen Degeneres' comedy just adds more layers of humour.

So you are never to old to see Kid's movies!

May the odds be ever in your favour, see you tomorrow!
