So you know those movies or television shows you start to watch thinking they will be good and then ten minutes in you are bored as hell. Where did that phrase "bored as hell" actually come from anyway? So today I have compiled a list of things that I find I (and others) do when they are watching something and get bored. Sometimes you just have to sit through it though and fight through the boredom. Though if something is boring it probably means it is not that good so the best course of action is to stop watching it.
Check Facebook every ten seconds. When I am bored I am constantly finding myself refreshing Facebook every ten seconds trying to find something to distract myself with. Sometimes I scroll through the same news feed ten times.
Play Candy Crush on your iPad/Phone. Okay, so this is something my Mum does a lot, personally I do not actually play Candy Crush (I used to but got out before I got addicted). In fact, Mum is actually on her iPad playing Candy Crush right now as we watch A Good Day to Die Hard. Yeah, it is a disappointing movie.
Write a blog post on your daily blog. Yeah, if this seems oddly specific it is because it is all about me. My boredom often equates to your reading. Imagine what I could have wasted hours of my life on over the past few months instead of writing for this blog. You got me, I am doing this right now.
Watch YouTube. That was actually something I was doing before I began writing this post. I was watching some old X-Factor performances on YouTube and the snippet of Lady Gaga's new song Venus set to be released with her new album Artpop.
Check Qooh.me or Ask.fm every two seconds to see if anyone has asked you a question. This way you will have something to distract you from the boredom that is your life at the moment. The amount of statuses I see of people asking others to ask them questions when they are "bored" is tremendous. Do not ask why I quoted that word in the previous sentence, even I do not know.
Read. One of the many things people do to avoid boredom is to read. I know a few people who do this a lot (myself included). Some people get more bored than others and so they read a book to keep themselves entertained.
Drawing is yet another of the major things that people do when they are bored. If you have a pen nearby and some paper your hands are going to be itching to do something. Drawing is going to be top of the agenda.
Remember, it is okay to be bored. Just be respectful of others when you are trying to fight your boredom. See you tomorrow!

The Holidays have Arrived
Hooray! Finally, after ten long weeks of school the holidays have arrived. As much as I enjoy school it is always nice to just get away from it all and relax instead of rushing around trying to organise everything and completing homework. It is a nice feeling although this Term has being a great one. I would like to start off with a bit of an update on the fundraising we held this week on behalf of the 'Wyndham Leaders of the Future' program. I am proud to announce that, thanks to the generosity of students we raised over $600 which will all be pooled together before next April to purchase medical supplies to send to the Menari Medical Centre in Papua New Guinea. Over $100 of this came from the lolly-jar raffle and it is great to see so many people rally behind such a great cause. Aside from this however, this term has been full of a lot of highlights (and yes, I am looking at the term calendar to remind myself).
The term started off with the Australian Maths Games Day which I participated in and had a lot of fun. It may have been a long tram ride from Flinders Street Station but it was worth it and going with a friend made the time seem to pass a lot quicker. Especially, when that friend had not realised how long the tram ride actually was. Then came LOTE week shortly after which supplied a lot of daily entertainment and international songs between bells. It was a nice and relaxing week and next year should be a whole lot better with even more students. Science Week followed not too long after and the daily recess trivia competitions with the horrible animations (that were funny because of how bad they were) really made my day (well, several of them actually). Finally, Book Week decided to show up and there were movie screenings in the iCentre (what we call our school library), a Macbeth incursion on the Wednesday (with actors from the Bell Shakespeare Company), a dress up day on the Friday and lots of competitions in between. Melbourne Writer's Festival then followed suit the following Monday which was a lot of fun to participate in and, since I was just an iCentre volunteer, I could just relax and enjoy the day rather than have to worry about doing any related work. The Arts and Technology week then came around with our performance-night on the Tuesday and the House Choral competition which was a blast. Seriously, this school is anything but boring. Finally, to cap it all of, there was this week full of fundraising for a good cause. Not a week goes by at this school without something happening, our Term calendar has barely a blank day anywhere with absolutely no empty week in sight.
It has been a busy term so a holiday is needed, see you tomorrow!

The Melbourne Writers Festival
So today I had a glorious excursion into the city and particularly federation square. Why was it glorious you ask? Aside from the fact I had no classes that day and the weather was near-prefect it was really interesting to get a writer's perspective on how they approach their reading and their writing. Today I attended three sessions. The first was with Morris Gleitzman and two other authors but I cannot remember what the actual topic was other than them reminiscing about their reading techniques. The second session was with two bookdesigners who design the cover for books. It was basically a look at how they approach it and would be interesting for someone looking to work in this area. I therefore did not enjoy it as much. The final session was three people, two of which were authors, recommending books for us to read. It was interesting and I already have a few books that I will be looking out for. It finished with the announcement of the short-listed books for the 'Inkies' which is a literary award chosen by teenagers for teenagers and this was also interesting. The sessions I went to last year were focused more on the authors and their writing processes. For this reason I enjoyed myself more last year but still had a blast this year.
You should really check it out, see you tomorrow.

Sickness
Sickness is something that can not only bring down the mood of the person suffering but also the mood of the people around them. Sickness is a disease not only affecting the ill, but also their entourage. Ok, I'm done with making up meaningful sentences. What brings this sudden post about Sickness? Well my Mum has been in bed sick all day except for short spurts where the medicine kicked in and she was able to stand up and walk around. I actually found her on the floor this morning with Mockingjay (yay!) closed (no!) beside her because she had to lie down she felt so bad. She always gets bad headaches and now and again she gets bad migraines that makes her feel so bad she has to lie down. (This picture is not of her, obviously)
How does this affect those around her? Well, somehow when someone is sick it brings down the mood of the whole house which meant we really had a lazy day and I couldn't do my Methods because it was in her room (yeah, I procrastinated) and so me and my brother watched House for a while. Then I got my laptop out of Mum's room when she went outside with the dog (see down the bottom) and was doing some stuff on that. I updated my YouTube channel to the new YouTube One layout which meant instead of a channel background I now just have a header which is sort of like the Facebook Timeline Cover. So I spent another 2 hours (I broke for a shower and dinner, Dad came home) creating it using a combination of Word (to get rid of the backgrounds of two photos of me), Lego Digital Designer (to create my name) and Paint (to get everything together) as well as a template that showed the different sizes for the different views (Desktop, Mobile, Tablet and TV) therefore I could decide what to show on each (Mobile shows the name Legolukey in Lego [creative I know], Tablet shows a little longer version of this, Desktop shows the name plus the two photos of me either side and the TV view shows all this plus a bit extra black bit either side) to know what I mean you can visit my YouTube Channel or Facebook Page (I used it as the Timeline Cover). Well that is all I have for today but above I typed (See down the bottom) because I have a photo of Sandy enjoying a small rawhide bone on a beanbag which was funny because he would not get off and Dad had to physically lift him off it to put him to bed.
That is a Lego helicopter, not an RC helicopter as someone thought it was on Facebook.
May the odds be ever in your favour, see you tomorrow.
