Welcome Back to the World of the Weird

Welcome back to yet another Weird News Tuesday post. Actually, the first Weird News Tuesday post in a little while due to technological set backs. Hopefully, this segment continues consecutively for a little while longer. Anyway, since it has been a while I guess there are a lot of weird news events that we have been missing. I guess we had better get started then if we want to catch up! The news site I am using this week is called Express and is yet another British news site. I am sorry but apparently the British love weird news. I am only finding these sites through Google Searches you know. Two twins in Newcastle have beaten the odds (400,000 to 1) by having their babies on the same day. Apparently this is newsworthy items so I guess the British have been running a little low on weirdness lately. Hopefully, the Sochi Olympics have raised the bar for them again. They always say that you never forget your wedding day. Well this couple are certainly never going to forget theirs after the Police were called when a drunken food fight involving Pork Pie (something very important to the story for some weird reason). The couple since laughed it off but apparently guests had been drinking since 2pm that afternoon and tensions had been rising before the food-fight broke out. The photo below is headlining the story. I kid you not.

In other news, there have been fears for the welfare of the Loch Ness Monster since she disappeared and no one has seen her. I guess news is slow around Loch Ness these days if this is all they can focus on. I guess it is good in some ways though as it means there must not be something very important going on around them that would distract them from the plight of the Loch Ness Monster. A viral video popped up during the week after a sky-diver dropped his GoPro camera before jumping out of the plane. The video is hilarious as the camera falls in a pig pen where a pig slowly saunters over to try and eat it. It is really good (in terms of viral videos) and you can watch the video by clicking here. As of late, there has been another one of those medical occurrences that no one can explain. Right now, it is a girl who cries tiny stones instead of tears. There is nothing wrong with the twelve year-old girl and if you doubt the story you can watch the video that featured on Yemen's TV Networks by clicking here. The girl is from Yemen if you did not realise so I guess all the weird news does not have to come from Britain (though it sure seems like it sometimes). An owner has been annoyed by his dog who has chewed through an 8,000 pound Aston Martin (over AU$100,000). The sheepish dog, Luce, is pictured below next to the damage caused to the owner's prized possession.

I am a bit busy with school-work at the moment so I am going to have to finish this post here. See you tomorrow!

Weird News Tuesday: Friday Edition!

As I missed out on making a Weird News Tuesday post this week due to extenuating circumstances I have decided to write this week's on a Friday. Next week, this segment should be back to its original Tuesday slot but if I get side-tracked it might become a Wednesday because I am seeing King Kong (again :) ) on Tuesday night. Sometimes I know I should write the posts earlier but I do get side-tracked and there might be something I am doing during the day that could delay my writing. Also, if you missed the announcement, the "Random Thought Friday" segment has been moved to a Saturday and renamed "Random Thought Saturday" (for obvious reasons). Before I go on with this post I also want to dedicate it to the wonderful man that was Nelson Mandela who recently passed away, may he rest in eternal peace. Today's stories come from Sky News Australia.

Apparently there are four chimpanzees in New York who are fighting (or rather, are been fought for) equal rights as humans. Apparently, the Nonhuman Rights Project is behind the move so that they could live out the remainder of their days in freedom. Well, the day has come. A feral "beer-guzzling" pig could get a plaque at a rest-stop in Western Australia to commemorate the pig's rather unusual life. The "infamous" [I have never heard of it] pig died two months ago and people are pushing for this plaque to be created. I knew they lived on the other side of Australia, but I never realised that people from Western Australia were that different. The "Red Dog" statue I can understand but this pig I can not. Have you heard of girl-friends trashing ex-partner's homes and belongings? What about selling them? Those things are pretty common-place these days so now some Chilean entrepreneurs have created a website on which people can sell their ex's belongings so they can "move on" with their lives. Pretty smart idea. Next we have my favourite Lady Gaga. This time her pee has been made into a perfume and, guess what, it was not Gaga's doing this time. Apparently she peed in a bin in her dressing room before an interview because she could not get to the bin. The people who she was doing the interview for did not care and instead kept her pee and turned into a perfume and kept it in a jar. No word on whether they are going to sell it but if they do, I bet some weird person is going to buy it for a lot of money just because it is Lady Gaga's pee and it is going to be worth something someday. Back to some silly things people do in America. The police donated drugs to a school. Yeah, you read that right. Some American Cops did donate Marijuana to a school. Granted, it was more of an issue of poor inventorying (that is a word) as it was found to have accidentally gone through with some of the other items they donated to the school. I suppose the police have just given up in America, drugs for all. Apparently it was important to Sky News to say that the school plans to make tomato plants out of the remaining materials. Well, that was my one question about this whole article answered. Glad they cleared that up or I could have looked like a right fool. This is an article I think that my school friends would like. Click here for the article that is full of too many puns. The article is about a cow who got its head stuck in a plastic chair. You want to know the worst part? The story for it is the longest I have read today. Apparently, a cow stuck in a chair was more important (or surprising) then police supplying drugs to students, or Chimpanzee's human rights! Come on people, we want the important things! That means more cows in chairs. Someone really should look into that market. There is a lot of weird stuff going on in our world these days.

The odd is everywhere, see you tomorrow!

Weird News Tuesday: The Weird and the Weirder

It is that time of the week again guys! This week, finding a source was hard. In the end I had to Google News Sites just to find one that had some weird news in it. Anyway, this week we are looking at the Yahoo Australia News site (au.news.yahoo.com). We begin with a story on how Australian Olympians are "not allowed to stagger". The Australian Olympics Committee says that Australian Olympians can get drunk but they draw the line at staggering and slurred speech. I get where they are coming from but that headline really caught my attention. Next we have the Toronto Mayor in trouble again after rushing off stage in a debate to hit another senator. Just when you think he could not get any lower. Seriously though, it has been on every news site I looked at today (it took me a while to find one that had some weird stories). Mayor Rob Ford has finally been stripped of all powers after a council vote. It took them a lot longer than it should have, just saying. The next two stories are not weird but the category they were filed under is. The first is a story about the release of endangered orange-bellied parrots that boosts numbers and the next is of animals dying in a zoo in Indonesia because of over-crowding. Neither of those stories are weird. The weird part is that it was filed under technology. I mean, really? I must have skipped the section about the robot birds and mechanical animals. I know I should have paid more attention in Biology.

So apparently this is the first ever selfie. It was posted in an ABC Online Forum in September of 2002 so hooray for Australian trend-setting! However, I doubt that this is actually the first ever selfie because the poster used "selfie" in her description of the picture. But, seeing as "selfie" is Oxford's Word of the Year (yeah, they chose "selfie" since its usage has risen dramatically over the past year) I am just going to get a little Australian pride going on! The story was obviously copied from the ABC News Site because it contained everything the same as the ABC one except the picture which it said was there in the headline. I think someone let it go there. The next story is a very touching one as it tells the story of a young boy with cancer and thousands of San Francisco people (San Franciscans?) who turned out to help make this "Bat Kid" into a super hero. Even US President Barack Obama got in on that act sending a photo to the boy with the caption "way to go!" It is a little weird, but also very heart warming to know that there are still thousands of good people out there, somewhere. The next story is of University of Adelaide medical students admitting to cheating on an exam. Can someone please explain to me why I have seen this on five different news sites today? How is that news? Since when was cheating big news? Should I just start making some big deal about every silly thing that I do now? Apparently, that is news. Finally, apparently the presenters on Today! (morning show on Channel 9) had Mamograms on air to test for breast cancer. Apparently that is a thing now.

Things just keep getting weirder!

Irresponsible Dog Owners

Can I just say that there are some really irresponsible dog owners in this world. I see examples of this everyday and sometimes I wonder if stricter rules for owning pets should be implemented. Just through walking Sandy after school I have noticed some incredibly irresponsible traits that I just wish I never have to see again. Let's just say that, at times, I can be fearful of the health and safety of some dogs. However, there are also the incredibly responsible dog owners who seem to have the happiest dogs. It just really goes to show that the better you treat a dog the more love and happiness they will give in return. After all, you only get out of this world what you put in.

I said that I see a lot of the bad behaviour of dog owners on my walks with Sandy after school and I can see examples of this behaviour even after the owners are long gone. I am of course talking about Dog poo. I am not talking about the little mines left in the grass because I mean, who has not done that at least once? I am talking about the stupid owners who let their dogs poo in the middle of the path and just keep walking. Somehow this also seems to get dragged out over metres with little droplets every few feet. It really is disgusting and it would be better even if they just pushed it over to the side of the path. Even today I was walking along a quiet path when I suddenly walked into a mine field with explosives every few centimetres. It was disgusting and if I had not of seen it I would have definitely walked right through it, I know Sandy nearly did. Another annoyance I have with dog owners is when they let their big aggressive dogs off the lead and do not watch what they are doing. Do you know how annoying it is to have Sandy (a really big sook) hiding behind your legs while a big dog is trying to get around to him. What does the owner do? Nothing. It is really annoying because I am yelling at this strange dog to move and the owner just turns around and laughs (bastard). I really felt sorry for that dog as this must be what he is treated to every day. It really made me want to get in touch with the RSPCA but I just let it go as it happens too often. So, as you can see there are some really irresponsible (and annoying) dog owners out there. Sometimes I have just had enough of the poo on the paths and the dogs chasing around my legs. It has to stop.

Be sure to care for your pets, see you tomorrow!
