Goodbye Amelia Pond and Rory Williams (Top Moments of the Doctor Part 15)

71. "I love you more" from Asylum of the Daleks

This is a very emotional scene towards the end of Asylum of the Daleks where Amy and Rory fight over who loves the other more. It is actually a pretty sad scene as they had broken up between Series 6 and 7. Rory believes that since he did not want the relationship over that he has always loved Amy more but as these scenes show, they have both loved each other a lot. I am very sorry for the backing track taking away from the emotion but it was the best I could find that had the scene (well the only one I could find). It turned out that Amy only broke up with Rory as she could no longer have children after what Kovarian did to her at Demon's Run.

72. "Run, you clever boy!" from Asylum of the Daleks

This is the first episode where Whovians got a taste of what the new companion was going to be like. Of course, at this point she was still a mystery as in here she is a Dalek. Throughout the whole episode, she has helped the Doctor, Amy and Rory survive the Dalek Asylum and escape unscathed. This emotional scene is Oswin discovering that she is a Dalek but with a strong human mind that did not want to let go. It was a great show of how strong a character she is to be able to fight against her Dalek instincts so that the Doctor could survive. It is only at the end of Season 7 that we learn the significance of "Run, you clever boy. And remember..."

73. The Doctor is Bored in The Power of Three

This is a funny part of the episode where we see a Doctor staying in a place for an extended period of time when he rarely stayed in a place like that without doing something. It is funny when he is bored. Rory's line at the start of this scene should also not be forgotten.

74. "Together or Not At All" from The Angels Take Manhattan

Amy and Rory's final episode did not disappoint. This scene was such an emotional one where Amy and Rory are trying to escape from the Weeping Angels together. In the end, Rory wants to kill the angels by creating a paradox. By killing himself he is preventing himself from ever growing old in that building and creating a paradox which could kill the angels. It is very emotional to see just how much Amy loves Rory in that she would rather jump off and kill herself with him than have to go through seeing him die. Amy and Rory really are the best for each other. It is also sad to see the Doctor see the person whom he imprinted on from being the first face that regeneration ever saw. It would also be horrible for River, their daughter, to have to live through it and watch her parents be taken from her again.

75. Goodbye Amelia Pond and Rory Williams in The Angels Take Manhattan

Can we just pause a minute and reflect on how great this fan-made tribute video is? It is so spot on and emotional. A lot have some really bad music but this is just great (the music is from the Series 2 Soundtrack Doomsday [name of song not soundtrack]). Just when Amy and Rory think they are safe, Rory is taken by a Weeping Angel and sent back in time. Meanwhile, Amy had to watch it happen and then decides she is going to go with him and intentionally touches the Angel's hand to be sent back in time. The full scene is very emotional but I could not find it on YouTube by itself.

76. Afterword by Amelia Williams from The Angels Take Manhattan

This is the sad scene from the end of The Angels Take Manhattan straight after Amy and Rory are taken by the Weeping Angel back in time. River who writes the book that leads the Doctor to finding her has Amy write an afterword to the Doctor for him to read. The Doctor then runs back to Central Park where he had ripped out the last page of the book as he did not like endings. It is Amy's final farewell to the Doctor and it is pretty emotional. There was also a Rory version that was never shot that was sent to Rory's father. I will embed the video below but here is the link to that one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWU6XL9xI4k. EXTRA: Rory's un-shot Goodbye Scene to his Father

This was an un-shot scene (after the part at the start from Dinosaurs on a Spaceship) in which Rory sends his father a letter from the past where Rory finally gets to say goodbye to his father. It is also revealed that Amy and Rory adopted a son; Anthony Brian Williams who delivers the letter to Rory's father (Brian). It is very emotional even though it is not actual scenes; just drawings from the story-board with the accompanying words and motions.

So Much River (Top Moments of the Doctor Part 14)

66. Stormageddon: Dark Lord of All from Closing Time

In this hilarious scene with the fan-favourite Craig, the Doctor reveals that he can speak baby as well as the name that Craig's son Alfie calls himself; Stormageddon: Dark Lord of All. It is a pretty interesting name for a baby but I guess it does not matter, he is just a baby. Pretty cool baby though.

67. Kovarian Comes for River Song in Closing Time

It is in this scene from the last episode before the Season 6 finale that Madame Kovarian returns for Melody Pond, or as we know her; River Song. It is here that Kovarian takes River and puts her in the (SPOILERS) Astronaut suit so she can (*SPOILERS AGAIN*) kill the Doctor. The haunting rhyme at the end; "Tick, Tock, goes the clock, now River kills the Doctor" just adds another element to Doctor Who which is why so many people love the show (myself included).

68. The Silence from The Wedding of River Song

In this scene we learn from Dorium, or rather his head, what the Silence actually is. Up to this point everyone has believed the Silence to be those monsters we were introduced to in The Day of the Moon. It was, in this scene, then revealed that the Silence are actually a religious order. Through later seasons and more of the Silence is revealed.

69. The Wedding of River Song from The Wedding of River Song

This was a scene that I did not actually realise I liked until the Doctor Who YouTube channel posted this scene. It is actually a pretty great scene where the Doctor believes there is no escape from his fate and that no one else would want to help him or even care. River song also reveals how much she loves him in this scene. The scene ends with River and the Doctor getting married.

70. The Question from The Wedding of River Song

It is the question that the Silence are determined will never be answered. The first question which has been hidden in plain sight; Doctor Who? It is actually a great link to the Season 7 finale at Trensalore. It was such a great ending.

An Emotional Roller-coaster (Top Moments of the Doctor Part 13)

61. Rory Puts Hitler in the Cupboard in Let's Kill Hitler

Many of us would have asked ourselves what we would do if we found ourselves with Hitler in some strange twist of fate (and time). Thanks to the wonders of Doctor Who, we now know what the Doctor would do to Hitler. Even Rory is a little shocked when he gets to punch Hitler, point a gun at him, tell him to shut up and put him in a cupboard. It is one of those great scenes that makes you love Doctor Who even more. Hold on though, there are a lot of emotions ahead.

62. River Song: "Is he worth it?" in Let's Kill Hitler

I warned you that the emotions were real. This episode, Let's Kill Hitler, comes straight after the episode When a Good Man Goes to War when (SPOILERS) River song was revealed to be (STOP READING IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY KNOW) Amy and Rory's daughter; Melody Pond. In this episode we see Melody Pond before and after the regeneration that turned her into River Song. As she was trained to kill the Doctor, she poisons him with her special lipstick and then, at the end of the episode (this scene), she finds out that she is the River Song that the Doctor and his companions have been going on about and she uses her remaining regeneration power to save him. The episode may sound like a stupid one but it is actually full of so much heart and emotion. I did warn you that the emotions were coming.

63. Amy Hates the Doctor in The Girl Who Waited

This episode sees Amy separated from the Doctor and Rory in the "Two-Streams" facility which was created to save the inhabitants of a diseased planet by keeping everyone in separate time streams where they could only see each other but not meet. Rory has to go with the TARDIS and the Doctor to catch up to Amy's faster time stream but by the time they arrive, thirty years have passed and Amy is sick of waiting for the Doctor. This episode is one that Whovians either love, or they hate. I love it for its heart and the dilemma that Rory faces later when he has to choose between saving the younger version of Amy who has not known the heartbreak of the older version or save the older Amy who has waited over thirty years for the Doctor. We finally see an Amy whose unfaltering loyalty to the Doctor has stopped yet her love for Rory is still strong. Warning: the emotions only get worse from here.

64. Old and Young Amy Reminisce about Rory in The Girl Who Waited

This scene is just as heartbreaking for Amy as it is for Rory who has to choose between saving the young Amy who has just arrived or the older Amy who has waited thirty years. In this scene, the two different ages of Amy talk to each other through the looking glass that allows people to see between time streams in the "two-streams" facility. They talk about Rory and why they love him so much. I do not know how the Whovians who watch this episode not like it. I guess some people are just not built for emotions.

65. "Don't let me in" in The Girl Who Waited

This is one of the most emotional scenes in the whole episode. I wanted to include the video clip to do the scene justice but there was none on YouTube. I did find this fan-trailer for the episode though which shows some of the best bits. Here is the link: http://tinyurl.com/IWaited4U and the scene at the end with the hand up against the TARDIS window is what I wanted to tell you about. That hand belongs to the older version of Amy who the Doctor had quickly shut the door on when the younger Amy finally made it through. He also locked the door and left Rory in charge of it so that she could not get in. In this scene, the older Amy knows that she cannot enter the TARDIS with the younger Amy as the resulting paradox would be too big for the TARDIS to maintain but she still also wants to come in. So she tells Rory to not let her in. Even though she wants to so badly she tells Rory not to let her in. This would have been so hard for Rory to do as he even became angry at the Doctor for making him choose between a scarred Amy or a fresher Amy.

A secluded house in the middle of the beauty of nature. Somewhere in the hills that is just really beautiful. That is probably what I would buy.

Um, I am actually not sure how to answer this one. I can not really think of anything right now because I am half asleep.

Get rid of the flies without any impact on the environment.

The Emotion is Real (Top Moments of the Doctor Part 12)

56. Amy is a Ganger in The Almost People

This is a scene that even chokes up the Doctor. If you have the time, you really should watch the clip (I know you have to go through to YouTube but it is worth it). In it we discover the real reason why the Doctor went to the early days of the Flesh. We find this reason to be that he wanted to find out more information about it so that he could sever the connection between Amy and the flesh body which her consciousness is in. Amy saying how scared she is while Rory slowly backs away is just heartbreaking.

57. Rory demands answers from the Cybermen in A Good Man Goes to War

This scene starts the Season 6 Part 1 Finale A Good Man Goes to War. In it the Doctor and Rory are trying to find Amy and so they go to the 12th Cyber Legion and Rory demands to know where his wife is. You really have to love the Doctor's message.

58. Protecting Melody Pond in A Good Man Goes to War

This is another of those emotional scenes. Just when you think that the battle is over and the Doctor has won you find out something else entirely. Suddenly, the battle is only just beginning and it becomes a battle to save Amy and Rory's daughter; Melody. It is a great scene where we see many different sides to the Doctor. We see the Time lord victorious and the time lord distraught. There is a lot to make this scene one of the bests. For one, we find that the Doctor has been fooled again and that the Pond's child is actually a ganger and the real one is with Madame Kovarian.

59. "How far you've come." from A Good Man Goes to War

I know this is a fan-made video but it makes the scene so much better with all the different cut scenes that allow you to understand what is going on. In this scene we see the result of River's prophecy. River refused to come and help the Doctor save Amy before as she said that the Doctor will rise so far and then fall so much further. This scene comes right before the big reveal of season six; River Song's true identity. This is a very reflective scene that looks back at how far the Doctor has come from when he began and it serves as a wake-up call for him. This fan-made video makes the scene that much better.

60. River Song's Identity in A Good Man Goes to War

There is so much emotion in this week's Doctor Who Sunday that I can not even handle it. This scene just caps it off with River's true identity revealed. I am warning you that if you are not yet up to this, finish reading this post right NOW or else it will not come as a shock. In this scene we finally learn the real reason why River did not come to help the Doctor save Amy. It was because that she knew her baby self would be there because (SPOILERS) her real name is Melody Pond. The reason why she took the name River Song is because the people of the gamma forest did not have a name for Melody or Pond as the only water in the forest is the River (a reference to the ending of The Doctor's Wife). It is very emotional.

The Week that Was: A New Segment!

Welcome to yet another Friday post. Generally, Fridays is a free-post day meaning that there is no segment (as Random Thought Fridays were moved to Saturdays) but today I am starting yet another new segment. This one is called "The Week that Was". In it, I go through some of the highlights of the week. These can be highlights in my life or in other areas. The reason I have so many segments is so that when it comes time to writing it is a lot easier to come up with something that I have not written about before. It also makes it a lot easier for you, my readers. If you know the type of posts that are going to be coming out on a day you can decide whether or not you want to read it. For instance, you may be interested in weird news and movies but not Doctor Who so you would read Tuesday and Thursday posts but would skip Sunday. See what I mean? Anyway, on with the week that was.

I can not discuss the week that was without bringing up the major international sporting event that has been running since last Friday. I am, of course, talking about the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia. Australia may not be winning many medals but our athletes are giving it their all and that is enough for me. As long as they try their best and enjoy themselves I am fine. Being a part of the Olympics is such a big thing and there is only ever going to be one Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. I am very proud of our Olympic athletes. Sure, Sochi may have its flaws but as long as our athletes are happy, we should be happy. There was sad news yesterday when a poor boy was killed by his father. Luke Batty was at cricket training with his father (who had separated from his mother and was visiting his son) when he was struck over the head with a cricket bat and stabbed several times with a knife by the last person you would expect; his own father. His father was later shot by police as he came running at them with his knife after repeatedly asking them to shoot him. It was a very tragic moment that shook the small town of Tyabb. His mother should be given a lot of credit however as she did say that no one loved her son more than his father and said that he must have been suffering from a mental condition. This is extremely positive considering that this was a violent man who had threatened to kill his ex-wife on several occasions and had numerous warrants out for his arrest. It showed great strength of character and was a very poignant moment. In my life a few things have been happening as of late. For one, I started school with a full course of VCE. If you do not already know my subjects for this year are; Methods 3/4, Literature 1/2, Physics 1/2, Legal Studies 1/2, IT Software Development 1/2, and General Maths (Standard) 1/2. This has partly been the explanation for the lack of posts over the past few days. VCE is a big two years that involves a lot of independent study and homework so for the next two years there will be times where I will miss out on posts and the many of those times will be because of homework and studying. Another reason why there has been a recent spate of missing posts is because I only received my school laptop yesterday and writing posts on the desktop computer I use is annoying as it is really old and takes a lot longer to type things out. Hopefully I will be getting my own personal laptop this year so this issue should not become as big a problem in the future; especially over the Christmas break where I have no school laptop.

Top Moments of the Doctor Part 11 (Doctor Who Sunday)

Welcome back to yet another Doctor Who Sunday post! I guess that it is also a welcome back to longer posts. I am going to try and schedule some longer posts to come out in the future so I can take some days off for homework and other commitments so hopefully there will be more long posts in the future. It is VCE now which means a lot more studying and less time to write these posts but I will try. Anyway, we are back to going through some of the Modern Doctor's greatest moments. 51. The Silence Defeat Themselves in The Day of the Moon

This was the moment that the Doctor ensured the defeat of the Silence by using their own power of hypnotic suggestion against themselves. By inserting this clip of the Silence telling everyone to "kill us all on sight" into something that millions of people were watching, he ensured that the silence would be their own undoing. It was a very smart move that once again saw the Timelord victorious (thumbs up to you if you know that reference).

52. River's First and Last Kiss in The Day of the Moon

This very sad scene at the end of what was supposed to be a very triumphant moment represents a part of what makes Doctor Who so good. This scene sees River kiss the Doctor which for him is the first time. River also knows that their lives are lived in reverse and that her beginning with him is as he is older and her end is when he was younger. River then knows that she may never kiss the Doctor again as she knows that when the doctor no longer recognises her (sees her for the first time), it is her time to die. That is part of what made the Silence in the Library episode so good.

53. "You can call me Sexy" from The Doctor's Wife

This is one of the funnier scenes of Doctor Who. It takes place after the Doctor is lured to an Asteroid in a bubble-Universe with the false hope of finding another Time lord. Once there, the TARDIS consciousness was taken out of the TARDIS and put into the human body of Idris. Idris then calls herself "sexy". It was a great scene in many respects.

54. Sexy Dies from The Doctor's Wife

This was another one of those sad scenes that makes Doctor Who so deep. In this scene, Idris' body deteriorates due to the sheer size of the TARDIS matrix and as she dies, she expels House from the TARDIS and saves Amy, Rory and the Doctor. I am sorry that you have to watch this clip on YouTube but it is well worth it. It gets really sad when Idris says "I just wanted to say hello."

55. Memories of the Flesh in The Rebel Flesh

This is a scene that brings up some big moral questions such as "What constitutes being human?" and whether what they did to the Flesh was right. It is a very sad scene made even worse when we later find out that it was just Jenny's Ganger (made of the Flesh) manipulating Rory into helping her. It is a sad scene that I love to watch over and over again. You really should go watch it on YouTube.

Top Moments of Modern Doctor Who Part 10

Welcome to yet another Doctor Who Sunday post. Also, happy Australia Day! Let's get started right away for a change.

46. The Doctor and Craig in The Lodger

This episode saw one of the funniest pairings in Doctor Who since Donna and the Doctor. Yes, the Doctor moves in with Craig in order to solve a mystery in the room above. In this episode the Doctor does many things. He plays soccer, fills in for Craig at his work (becomes more popular than Craig at his work) and sets up Craig with a friend who has always liked Craig and Craig has always liked her. It is a great pair and this episode should not be skipped over lightly.

47. The Last Centurion from The Big Bang

It really was romantic that the girl who waited, Amy Pond, fell in love with a man who would stand guard over her for 200 years. It was a match made in Doctor Who heaven, the boy who waited in love with the girl who waited. In this episode, Rory is forced to kill Amy Pond by forces beyond his control and in order to save her, Rory places her inside the Pandorica which has a regenerative light so that the thing trapped inside it can never die. He then waits 200 years to see her again. All the while protecting her from every danger. It is a very big act of romance that I doubt anyone other than Rory Williams could have pulled off.

48. Kazran Loves Abigail in A Christmas Carol

This episode sees a blatant rip off of a Charles Dickens' classic but we will let that slide because it was a great episode. In this episode we find a man, Kazran, with the power to save the lives of thousands of people on a spaceship yet he is so bitter that he decides not to. The Doctor than travels through his past to change him so that he will help them. Through this they find a girl, Abigail, who is frozen in a stasis pod which Kazran's father keeps. Each Christmas the Doctor takes Kazran and Abigail wherever they want and they have so many great adventures. Kazran inevitably falls in love with Abigail and he becomes a different person. However, when he finds what the countdown on the pods means he again turns nasty. It really is a great episode that you should watch. Bear in mind, that this is a fan-made cinematic trailer.

49. River Slaps the Doctor for Making her watch him Die in The Impossible Astronaut

This episode sees the Doctor inviting Amy, Rory and River to what is a seemingly nice get together. However, the Doctor knows that he is inviting them to see his death. After this, a very distraught River, Amy and Rory return to the diner where they were before and find another letter on a table. They then find out that the Doctor also invited himself to come at a later time to meet up. However, the Doctor (who is still alive) does not know this and so River slaps him for something he makes them watch in the future. It is a great slap.

50. The Silence from The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon

Steven Moffat struck gold again in the creation of this monster. The Silence are creatures who you can only remember when you look at them. As soon as you turn away, you forget all about them. They are the perfect monster because, for all we know, they could be real. Plus it is credible that they have been on Earth for a while. They also have the power of hypnotic suggestion. While you are looking at them, if they tell you to do something then as soon as you look away from them you will do it without knowing why. Of course, this also allows for the Doctor to reign victorious over them in the end of Day of the Moon but still, it is a great skill.

Synopsis: Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind "Tangled" and "Wreck it Ralph", presents "Frozen", a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) has a magical power to freeze things and create snow and icy creations. However, after she nearly kills her sister by accident she has to hide her powers from everyone including her sister, Anna (voiced by Kristen Bell), whose memory of Elsa's magic has been completely wiped from her mind to save her life. Her parents try to protect her but they die when their ship sinks and Elsa and Anna are left alone (see "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" below). Elsa remains in control of her powers until her coronation ball where she accidentally lets some magic loose and shocks everyone. She then escapes to the mountains and creates an icy fortress for herself. In doing so, Elsa has unwittingly trapped the kingdom of Arandelle in an eternal Winter. Anna then sets off to find her sister and convince her to put an end to the winter. Along the way she receives help from an ice-seller named Kristoff (voiced by Jonathon Groff) and his trusty reindeer Sven. They also meet a snowman named Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad) who was brought to life through Elsa's magic. Together, this unlikely troupe must put an end to the eternal Winter, save Arandelle as well as Elsa.

Review: I went in to this film expecting nothing more than a Disney-animated "kid" film. However, I was surprised at the quality and the depth in story-telling that this movie presented. It had the right balance of heart, story and comedy which made for an enjoyable experience. It also had a wide repertoire of hard-hitting and catchy songs. The highlights being "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" and "Let it Go" (a song being heralded as the new Defying Gravity and nominated for a Grammy for best original song). You can listen to both songs by scrolling down below. My favourite character would have to be Olaf, a snowman created by Elsa's magic who dreams of Summer and heat (blissfully unaware of what happens to snow under heat). He is also a big source of comedy and makes the movie so much more enjoyable. The story-telling is also very heart-felt and you do end up feeling for the character's of Elsa and Anna. If you are looking for a good movie to watch, this is one to seriously consider.

Weird News Tuesday: Telegraph Edition

Welcome back to yet another Weird News Tuesday. In this segment we look through the news to find some weird stories or news items that really should not be considered news but rather scraping the bottom of the metaphorical barrel. As you may have guessed, this week we are using the United Kingdom's own Telegraph news site. I have not done this site before, the Telegraph I did was the Australian Daily Telegraph (about the 4th Weird News Tuesday back in November 2013). Let us see what weird news that London can throw at us after the burst of weird British news last week. Do you know "Imagine" by John Lennon (it is a song)? Well, some creative people have recycled guns seized by Mexican drug cartels (so specific) and turned them into musical instruments to recreate this iconic John Lennon song. It may not be the best rendition of the song but it sure sends a good message. You can view the video by clicking here. A Japan airline has caused an online furore over a thirty-second commercial that has been labelled as racist. You can view the commercial by clicking here (and scrolling down). In it, two men dressed in the airline's uniform say some things that I did not quite catch the drift of (the commercial is in English) and then one says that they should change the image of Japan. It then cuts to the other man who is suddenly wearing a blonde wig and an elongated nose (which you can see in the picture below). I, personally, do not find the commercial overly-racist but then I did not really catch the drift of the first half.

Continuing on with the airline theme, Sixty-six flight attendants broke into dance in front of very surprised customers in Shanghai Pudong International Airport to celebrate the first day of the 40-day festival to celebrate the Chinese new year. In Mexico-City there is an annual pet-blessing ceremony that pet-owners attend to protect their pet from "danger and misfortune". It is a great way to bring the community together and I suppose in our new day and age it does not seem as weird but, you have to admit, this is just the tiniest bit strange. I am not even going to click on the article about why the knight is the best chess piece. Judging by the description, the argument is that it can get to any space on the board (but so can a lot of other pieces). I did not plan to spend any more than a sentence about this article but look what you have gone and made me do. Apparently it was a Peruvian artist's dream to paint underwater and very recently his dream was recognised. He was decked out in scuba diving gear and then went for a swim along the ocean floor painting the fish that swam by him. You can watch the video by clicking here. There are so many links in this post, I think it is a big problem guys. I think I should stop with the links for the rest of the post (a promise I am likely to keep for only a few more sentences). A family has four children who all have the same birthday (but born in different years). There is a three year age gap between the first and second-born and then a two year age gap between the second and the third-born. That would be one hell of a year when one turns 21, another 18, and the last 16. In other countries turning 16 is more of a bigger deal than it is in Australia (though some Australians do love to celebrate) so that is going to be one expensive day or, more likely, week. Researchers have found that a healthy dose of narcissism can do wonders for your career and that narcissists are more likely to find themselves in a position of prominence. However, they also found that too much narcissism once in that position can lead to problems. So that sort of evens out the playing field for the rest of us. Most of us know about the 'humble' pick-pocket and now some magicians and a reformed criminal are doing the opposite. In order to raise awareness for pick-pocketing they are slipping cards into people's pockets instead of taking anything (that we know of). That is actually a very smart campaign as generally people believe they will never fall victim to the pick-pockets of our world yet by spreading the awareness through pick-pocketing it is showing that it can affect everyone. I certainly approve of this. A heated political debate was disrupted when one of the politician's iPad ringtone went off playing Queen's hit, "Fat Bottomed Girls". That would have really interrupted the debate which was being aired on BBC. Do I hear a new viral video? Next comes a very touching video (see, I told you I would put a link in here somewhere) of a stage-actor performing as Peter Pan proposing to his real-life girlfriend who is playing Wendy. He interrupts the whole show and makes a big speech about it (all the while Wendy is freaking out) and how much he loves this girl. You can watch this touching proposal by clicking here.

41. The Truth about Starship UK from The Beast Below

Do you remember the famous quote "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" from A Few Good Men? That same thing can be said about Starship UK. When the world was burning due to the expansion of the Sun, the people on Earth fled to the stars on spaceships. This spaceship contains the whole of the United Kingdom (except for Scotland). Every person on board (except for some very few people in the control centre) believes that the ship is run by engines. However,  it is actually run by a space-whale which has the Starship UK attached to its back. Every 5 years, the people aboard Starship UK go to a voting booth individually. Here they watch a recording telling them the story of the Starship UK. After this they can vote to either "Protest" or "Forget". If 1% of the population select "Protest" than the program is stopped and the whale is set free. Even the Queen has chosen to "forget". There is a very emotional scene where the Queen watches a recording of herself telling the story of the Star Whale. When the world was burning and the children were crying this star whale came from above like a savior. On its back they built a ship to sail them away from their world. It is also revealed that this Star Whale is the last of its kind. It was very emotional as the Doctor had to decide whether to save millions of people and kill the last star whale or vice versa.

42. Scared Children from The Beast Below

This part of the episode sees Amy Pond, the Doctor's companion at that time, take a gamble that the space whale will stay to save the children. It is discovered that the Star Whale did not come to Earth all those years ago like a miracle, it came because it could not stand hearing children cry. It was a very poignant moment and the audience got a taste of the Amy Pond we would grow to love even more throughout the forthcoming episodes.

43. The Dreamlord from Amy's Choice

Toby Jones is great in this episode as he plays the Dreamlord who (SPOILER ALERT) turns out to be the Doctor's darker side brought out by psychic pollen in the TARDIS. In this dream brought on by the pollen, the Dreamlord creates two worlds with two very different dangers. Only one of the worlds is real (or so they are told) and they have to decide which world is the real one. Amy is also made in this episode to choose between the Doctor and Rory, hence the title Amy's Choice.

44. Amy can not Live Without Rory in Amy's Choice

After this scene, Amy decides that the real world is the one in the TARDIS as she can not bear to live in a world where Rory has died. Amy takes the van and kills herself and the Doctor by ramming it into her house. It is very emotional and one where we finally get to see who Amy loves more; Rory.

45. Vincent Hears of his Fame in Vincent and the Doctor

In this episode, Amy and the Doctor go to visit Van Gogh after discovering a monster in one of his works. They discover, and Amy is shocked, at how sad and dejected he is and how no one likes his works. This is the end of the episode where Amy and the Doctor take him to see a museum exhibit all about his artworks. The Doctor also allows him to overhear a conversation with one of the art historians and how he believes he is one of the greatest artists of all time. It is a very emotional scene.

Daisy: What are you doing?

In case you had not read my post around New Years, I am in Phillip Island along with my cousins. They have a dog called Daisy. This is her story. This is not Law and Order. Daisy is a small dog and she would be about 2 years old. Sometimes she is tired and sometimes she is excited. As she is alone most of the day, she is definitely an almost nocturnal dog. Meaning that during the day she is tired and lazy but when night comes she is a completely different dog. She goes from eyes half-closed to looking like she has had a large dose of pure caffeine. Aside from this she is also a very smart dog who knows what is going on and even toilet trained herself. So today when my grandparents left and took their dog (who is much older) Daisy knew exactly what was going on. She was very depressed and the looks she was giving were empty. However, as is with her energy levels, she quickly perked up again when my cousins returned. Daisy is one bipolar dog.

Doctor Who Sunday (Thursday Edition): Top Moments of the Doctor Part 6

Welcome to another Doctor Who Sunday post where I go through some of the greatest Doctor Who moments in the Modern series. I am posting this today to commiserate the loss of Matt Smith and to celebrate the arrival of Peter Capaldi on Doctor Who. If you did not realise, I posted Part 5 yesterday on Christmas to make up for missing out last Sunday and also to give me a break on Christmas Day (I am pre-writing this one on Christmas Eve). On with the Doctor!

26. The Doctor Wants a Mate in Partners in Crime

In this scene the Doctor is glad that Donna has agreed to accompany him as his companion but when Donna mishears him saying "I just want a mate" things get interesting. What Donna hears is "I just want to mate" and comedy gold ensues. I am sorry for the poor quality of the video but it was the only one I could find and pictures just did not justice.

27. "Just Save Someone" in The Fires of Pompeii

This is a scene where we finally get to see the emotional side of Donna and see that she is not just there as a comedy character. We also see the darker side of the Timelord in this episode as he does not want to save people because it is a "Fixed point in time". Instead, Donna implores him to save just someone because the Doctor's home (Gallifrey) burned just like Pompeii. It is a very strong scene. You may also recognise Peter Capaldi as the father of the family. Fun fact, Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) also appears in this episode as one of the seers.

28. The Ood's Song in Planet of the Ood

In this episode we get another emotional scene with Donna and the Ood when she hears the song of captivity that these Ood are singing. Donna asks for the Doctor to allow her to hear it and when she does it gets very emotional and she feels even more for the Ood and their plight. For those of you who do not know, the Ood are creatures that the human race found and turned into slaves. Off all the monsters in Doctor Who the worst are always the humans.

29. The Doctor Meets River Song in Silence in the Library

This is the episode where the Whoniverse was introduced to River Song, a character everyone would learn to love is introduced to the Doctor. However, in this episode River Song already knows the Doctor and the Doctor makes the shocking discovery that River knows a lot more about him than he knows about her. It is a very good two-part episode (Forest of the Dead) is the second part. You also see how they make references to later episodes (the crash of the byzanteum is part of the episode with Amy and the Weeping Angels). River also knows that when the Doctor no longer knows who she is that it is her time to die which is something very sad and you can see her whole demeanor change.

30. River Makes the Ultimate Sacrifice in Forest of the Dead

This is a very sad scene and River even makes the note that now the Doctor knows exactly when she is going to die. Here, River is wiring herself into the mainframe of the library so she can stop the self-destruct sequence and save the people who had being "saved" by the computer. River also tells him of their last date so that the Doctor knows now when River is going to die. She even says that the Doctor cried. We all know that the Doctor cried because he knew that River Song was going to die. It was a very emotional moment played extremely well by Alex Kingston (River Song).

Doctor Who Sunday: Top Moments of the Doctor Part 5

Merry Christmas everyone! It is hard to believe that the year has already come around to its end and has brang Christmas with it. The year has gone by so fast. As you all might know from yesterday's post today (Christmas) and tomorrow (Boxing Day) are both going to be Doctor Who Sunday posts to celebrate the arrival of a new actor (Peter Capaldi) and commiserate the loss of an old favourite (Matt Smith). It is also there to make up for missing out on last Sunday's Doctor Who post. You will still be able to see Part 7 this coming Sunday though (if all goes to plan). On with the show!

21. Martha Walks the Earth in The Last of the Timelords

This was one of the better season finales of Doctor Who as we prepared to farewell faithful companion Martha Jones (without us knowing she would make a few reappearances in Season 4 with Donna Noble). Here we find that after the Earth has been reduced to a shadow of its former glory thanks to the Master and the Toclafane. At the end of the previous episode (The Sound of Drums) we find Martha escaping the Master and now we find out what she has been doing but it is not until the end of the episode that we find out why. It really is a great scene and is one of those emotional-due-to-lack-of-emotion moments. The world has appeared to give up all hope and that is what makes Martha strive on.

22. The Toclafane's Identity Revealed in The Last of the Timelords

The true identity of these creatures from somewhere unknown yet found by the Master was one that shocked quite a number of people. As the Master says to the Doctor, "I could tell you who they really are but it would only break your heart." We find out that the Toclafane are in fact from the end of time itself and the last humans fleeing destruction who are driven made and turned into these creatures. They even say that they kill other humans "because it is fun!" It really is a sick thing to know that the human race which the Doctor helped save in the third-last episode of Series 3 became these monsters and returned to kill their own kind. It is horrible to think that this is what becomes of the human race; monsters.

23. Martha Triumphs over the Master in The Last of the Timelords

Some of the final moments of Series 4 were the best. We learnt a lot about our favourite series in this episode. This scene is one where the human will wins over the Master's. It is a story of defiance and the resilience and power of the human race. It was a very triumphant moment to get back at the one man who had single-handedly caused an apocalypse. It is also a very poignant moment when his own companion supports the Doctor. As we saw earlier while the Master dances (see number 20) she was visibly tired and here we can see that she is sick of him and wants him gone just as much as anyone else, if not more.

 24. The Master is Shot by his Companion in The Last of the Timelords

This was one shock I did not forsee. I knew that his companion was getting tired of him but I never expected that she would go as far as to try and kill him after everyone else had already threatened to shoot him. What makes it even more surprising is that the Master refuses to regenerate as he does not want to spend the rest of his life stuck with the Doctor. It was a very triumphant and emotional (again due to lack of emotion) scene.

25. The Doctor and Donna Reunite in Partners in Crime

This was one of the funnier episodes of Doctor Who and this was definitely the funniest series in Modern Doctor Who. In this scene Donna and the Doctor are investigating the same thing (without realising it) and it is only in this scene that they finally meet after narrowly missing each other on several occasions. It is a very funny mimed conversation when they finally notice each other. It would have been hard to portray as you had to make sure that everyone could easily tell what was going on. The Adipose lady (Mrs Foster) is great when she realises what is going on and everyone is just like "What the hell is going on?"

Doctor Who Sunday: Double Doses of The Doctor (Top Moments of Modern Doctor Who Part 3)

Yes, I am posting this one on a Friday and yes, I am writing this the day before I post it. Why you would have asked either of those questions I do not know but now, at least in some alternate dimension, someone's questions have been answered. Anyway, I am doing this for missing out on a post on Tuesday and for last Sunday only posting 4 top moments. Today I will post 6 more top moments as well as the usual post on Sunday. These are my top moments of the Doctor in no order except for when they appeared in the show. Of course, since Doctor Who has been going for 50 years I am only doing the modern series as I have not watched enough Classic Doctor Who to make any assumptions. So, let us begin!

10. Elton Pope from Love and Monsters

Elton Pope was many things in this episode of Doctor Who. No longer were we seeing the story through the perspectives of the Doctor and/or his companion(s) but instead from an external source who provided a fresh look at what was going on. Elton dances, sings, starts a club, narrates, falls in love with a girl and, later, (*spoilers*) a slab of pavement with her face stuck in it. Elton Pope brought a lot the show and was something that surprised even me. I was not expecting an episode like this.

11. London Investigation n' Detective Agency (LINDA) from Love and Monsters

If the Doctor can have the TARDIS (time and relative dimension in space) why can Elton not have LINDA (London Investigation n' Detective Agency). LINDA was a 'secret' organisation that got together, shared food, and talked about mysterious occurrences and, of course, the Doctor. After a while they even started a band that did not sound too bad after all. The n' in the name is meant to be like Fish n' Chips (as Elton says in the episode) and it makes it that much more entertaining. As always happens with this sort of thing they get caught up (accidentally) with an alien that ends up with an encounter for Elton with the Doctor. They were quite the band of detectives.

12. "I did my duty for Queen and Country" from Doomsday

Yvonne Hartman, the leader of Torchwood (pre-Jack Harkness), died doing what she believed was her "duty for Queen and Country". Apparently this was so strong that even being turned into a Cyberman (or Cyberwoman) could not have stopped her doing her duty. However, if this was not as unbelievable given what we learnt about what makes a Cyberman it got worse when she actually cried a tear of what appeared to be oil. Still a great character and few scenes though.

13. Rose and the Doctor Separated Forever in Doomsday

Who was not screaming at Rose to "Hold on!" in this scene from the finale of Series 2. I believe it was the day that Whovians everywhere cried (or were close to) as our favourite companion Rose was ripped from us and lost in an alternate dimension. I believe we all breathed a sigh of relief when her father caught her and took him with her to the other dimension. The ending of this clip however just cements our sadness even more. Rose does a lot of crying in her finales. It was sad though.

14. The Doctor and Rose say Goodbye in Doomsday

If losing Rose was not bad enough, the writers wanted us to suffer just that little bit more by making us endure this heart-wrenching goodbye from Rose. It was ruined at the end though by a Donna Noble in a Wedding Dress screaming "WHAT!?" Still, there was a lot of heart and it was hard to see the Doctor try to say he loved her only to be cut short when the transmission cut out.

15. "WHAT?!" in Doomsday

This was the ending of Doctor Who that left emotional fans asking the same word that was repeated at the end of the episode over and over again; "WHAT?" Basically, this scene comes straight after the one you watched just above as Donna Noble (played by Catherine Tate) materialises in the TARDIS in her wedding dress. We later learn at the start of Season 3 that she was walking down the aisle when it happened. The only words the Doctor and Donna actually say is "What?" over and over again. It was a very confusing ending.

What Songs Really Mean

Have you ever been listening to a song and thought "What is this person trying to say?" Of course, I am not talking about some of Miley Cyrus' new songs but instead some of the other popular songs you hear on the radio. Well, in today's post, I am going to talk to you all about what songs actually mean. Before we continue on I just want to apologise for yet another lack-of-post yesterday but my brother's Valedictory dinner went later than expected and all you would have got from me anyway was a hastily written "Sorry I am so late right now but I am writing this on my phone.." and the rest you can just guess. I was sleeping most of the way home anyway so was in no state to share my views with the world because, most likely, the world would have rejected them. So, on with the show!

1. Do What U Want by Lady Gaga (Ft. R. Kelly)

Looking in on this song it just sounds like Lady Gaga asking you to do literally anything to her. However, if you actually look at the lyrics you get a whole different perspective. The first verse is all about how she puts herself out there and yet is judged by other people who do not know her and it makes her "want to scream". Then she goes onto say that you can do what you want with her body and you can say what you want about her but you can never take her heart and her mind. It is basically her fighting back at her critics saying that they can say whatever they want about her because she does not care. It really is a great message from a song that, from the outset, looks to be all about sex. That is merely one interpretation and the beauty of this is that it is open to all these interpretations and so how I read it is going to be entirely different to how someone else reads it. It really is quite fantastic.

2. Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus

This song is again one that people come into with a lot of prejudice. If you take away all your prejudices you actually realise that this is a very emotional and from-the-heart song that is just Miley trying to be sincere. Even the nudity is artistic in this context as it is intended to show her raw emotions and what she is going through. The song is about Miley Cyrus putting herself out there only to be heart-broken just when she let her guard down. It is all about her struggles with giving the person her all only to be shut-down. At some points she blames herself for coming in too hard (the wrecking ball being a metaphor for her love) and trying to get through to the other person. Even without the lyrics you can tell that this song is more than just Miley Cyrus trying to get some more attention, it is nothing like that. For all we know, it could be about her break up with fiance (sorry, it will not allow me accents on blogger) Liam Hemsworth.

It is hard to believe that this relatively new artistic sensation only just turned 17 this month but wow, he career has sky-rocketed. The song for which most people know her, Royals, is one that most people have listened to and liked so let us dissect the lyrics. She starts by saying that she is not rich and does not live in a rich-town. She then, correctly, says that every other song is about wealth, fame, drugs and sex and it is partly this true fact that makes the song so popular. People are finally getting something different and wholesome and have a new platform to support this view. Lorde than goes on to sing about how they will never be rich and famous but in their dreams they can be whoever they want to be. Lorde even says that she never did it for the money (here we can assume she is referencing her fame) while every other song is "like gold teeth, grey goose, trippin' in the bathroom. Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room." It really is an honest song that takes a different perspective to all the other songs out there. It really is a great song.

An Explanation

So you may have realised that the holidays have started and you may also have realised (if you visited this blog since Saturday night that short and not-so-sweet posts have appeared. For this I am very sorry and feel that you deserve an explanation. Sure, it works out for me as well as it counts for today's post but all in all this post is for you guys as you deserve, no... need an answer! Well, actually you do not but anyways, it's late and I do not want to bore you all more than you already are. Sorry guys for the remainder (and introduction) of this post.

So I guess our story begins one stormy night in 1997 when a new (and exceptionally bright) light was brought into the world. He would grow up and haunt people's daydreams and change the future forever. He would write a blog which would one day become known as a suppository for all that is procrastination. That boy was me and this is my story. T'was the night before last and all through the house not a creature was silent not even the incredibly sooky dog making up nearly 13% of this blog. It was an eventful night with many a fright throughout the night. It was the next day that I woke up and knew something was wrong for my phone was still sleeping at eight in the morning. My throat was a bugger all day and by night all that was left in life appeared to be sleep. Yet as the dark closed in around our protagonist (I really need to stop changing perspectives mid paragraph) a sudden thought struck him and this thought was of the amazing (and very modest) blog, the Daily Lukey. The next day was very much the same slog with a lot of scooping, moving and shoveling of bark and still, after many soluble tablets, the throat was still an issue. It was late at night and Luke was about to finally asleep after countless minutes (I get lost after two) of tossing and turning when the same thought struck him. His blog left emptied and he thought of making up a story about poor scheduling but felt that a short and sweet post would last better. Thus ends the teary tale of the man without a tail and his incredibly sad dog with one (seriously though, for such an upbeat dog he does sook a lot).

Much sorrow was felt that day and the magical land of Home would never be the same again, see you tomorrow!

Why am I watching this?

Foreword: I am sorry about the lack of post yesterday (2/7/2013) as this post was supposed to be released at around 6pm last night but for some reason Blogger decided that it would rather not publish this post and it went unpublished. As a result, today there will be 2 posts including this one which was meant to go live last night. Be sure to check back again tonight (3/7/2013) at around 6pm (AEST) tonight for the 100th post! Again I am sorry about what happened and sincerely hope that it does not happen again.

Have you ever just sat in front of the television and just flicked through the channels because there was nothing else to do. Imagine one of those days when it is raining, you are home alone, have nothing to do and are incredibly bored. What do you do? Probably watch some television. But wait, there does not seem to be anything on that interests you. However, like most people (myself included) you just continue flicking through the channels wishing an unscheduled show to air. However, in the end you find yourself an hour later watching some show you have no interest in. Sometimes you really have to ask yourself "Why am I watching this?" Most of the time I do not have an answer. It really is a bit sad.

Sometimes we even experience this during prime-time television (around 6pm to 9pm). Especially during the period of the year where the networks do not air any of the good shows as the rating season is low. This, for me, is the worst time for television as there is nothing that interesting on and you just find yourself flicking through the channels and watching bits and pieces of all these boring shows. I mean, do you know how many times I have watched Antiques Roadshow during this period? Let's just say that there is a lot of junk on that show and I am getting really good at guessing how much an item is worth. I know how sad that sounds but that is the reality nearly all of us face. Have you ever had this experience? Chances are you have. Even now, as I write this I find myself thinking of all the good shows that are on tonight I want to watch (like Under the Dome) and then all the crap ones I will probably sit through while waiting for these shows (like The Mole which I do not think will be as good as the original series). Hospitals

Hospitals, there is something about them. Many other buildings you feel no emotion towards but as soon as you come to a hospital you are bombarded with memories and emotions that can often leave you feeling as though you should be a patient. Just the thought of hospitals can scare some people and some even suffer from Nosocomephobia which is the fear of hospitals (see, I do my research). I don't know what it is but Hospitals just seem ... well, sick.

I had to visit someone in hospital today and as soon as I went inside I felt sick, or dirty. I felt as though I had carried in every single germ known to man kind. Why did I feel this? Perhaps it was the perfectly clean floors and walls. Maybe it was the hand wash dispenser on the wall every two metres. It may have been the nurses walking around in scrubs or the blanched look of the walls. I hate to say it but it really was depressing. There seemed to be no happiness in the place and all the places that were aimed towards happiness just seemed like a fake facade hiding so much more underneath its surface. Hospitals are sullen places and it is just something about them that makes me feel depressed or dirty.

Whenever I walk into a hospital I always get a sick feeling in my stomach as though something bad is going to happen to me. Maybe it's all the sick people, even though there are some very healthy patients in there as well. Maybe its the stigma around hospitals and how so many people go there and never come home. Then there's all the visitors, half of which look the way I feel. They just are not happy and so a hospital is certainly not somewhere to go for someone recovering from depression. Even the hospital beds when they are empty seem too perfect with their hospital corners all tucked in straight. It really is very unnerving. So you see I am not a big fan of hospitals and try to stay away from them as much as I can.
